My Monthly Goals…Why do I set them? Why do I share them here?
- Setting goals helps me remain focused.
- Sharing my goals helps to hold me accountable.
- I hope that it may inspire you to set goals for yourself.
Are you new to goal setting? Here are a few posts that may help or inspire you:

Sleep
My goal is to be in bed for 7 hours at least 5 nights of the week. If you have trouble making sleep a priority, check out these helpful resources: Sleep It Does a Family Good and Make Over Your Mornings.
Exercise
Workout 3-4 times per week. Complete at least 10 minutes of activity on off days. This daily activity was part of my January Mini Goal.
Weekly “date” night with hubby
One movie, game or date night per week. We have been using VidAngel to watch movies at home. It’s just $1 per movie, we don’t have to leave the house to find a Red Box, and it’s not a subscription service. We have watched our last 4 movies with it and are happy with how easy and cheap it is.
Monthly outing with our family
It’s easy to just get into the daily grind and not make the time to have an outing as a family, so I would like to make sure we plan one fun activity for the four of us in February.
New Healthy Habit from my 12 Mini Goal Challenge
Cut back on evening snacking. Read more about my 12 Mini Goals Challenge.
Faith
I recently purchased Daily Devotional New Testament: Through the New Testament in a Year. This daily devotional includes two readings from the New Testament, a short reflection, a portion of the Psalms and a thoughts for prayer section. I started it at the end of January, so I would like to catch up on the devotions in February.
Morning devotion with my girls
Read a daily devotion or bible story with my girls at breakfast each morning.
Books
Finish A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I am halfway through and am enjoying it.
Girls
I thought that this Valentine’s idea (Link no longer active. Basically: Create hearts every day leading up to Valentine’s Day and write one reason why you love your child on each heart.) was a special one. I would like to make the hearts for my daughters this year.
Make Photo Calendar
Complete 2016 Mixbook calendar. Yes, I realize that it’s already February, but I never got around to making our family’s photo calendar in December.
February Blog Goals
- I had more success by putting my last printable project for sale on gumroad. So I will probably not focus on Etsy this month.
- I enjoyed working on my Health and Wellness Printable Workbook and even sold a few! I would like to get started on a second workbook or printable packet in February.
- January was my best month by far for page views (almost double December!), and I’m excited about the growth. Some of it was because Money Saving Mom shared my 12 Mini Goals Challenge (in 2018). I would like to see that my page views continue to go up in February.
- Work ahead and plan out the 12 Mini Goals Challenge for March.
You will receive free updates, morning motivation, printables, blog post highlights, and occasional deals sent your way. Frequency?? Just a few times per month.

I’m excited you’ll be hosting a link up for goals! I love reading other people’s goals as well. I’ll be back on Wednesday!

I am a goal setter and one thing has really made a difference for me. I have an accountability partner. We meet once a week to formally share our goals for the week. We talk or text daily to check in on each other. We share wisdom, encouragement and we brainstorm together. It’s been amazing.
Emily says
Accountability is key! It sounds like you have a great plan set up.

I’ve never heard of gumroad before. Most my printable I offer for free on my blog or sell on Teachers Pay Teachers. I’ll have to check them out. I love the exercise goal. I really need to start making that a priority. I made sleep and a bedtime routine my habit in January and it has done wonders for my attitude. In bed my 9 and up by 5.

I am so excited about this link up! I’ll be sure to link on Wednesday! I love reading what other people set as goals each month. I’m glad I’m not alone!

These are some good goals to have. Good luck with them and looking forward to seeing how you progressed with them :-)
Lisa B says
YES to more sleep. I’m working on that goal, too. Some days are better than others, but I’m convinced with a LOT of self-discipline, I can get 7 hours per night. Wooohooo!
Emily says
It takes me so much self-discipline also. :)

Love that you have these monthly goals. I have set goals for the year, and I do a weekly gratitude and goals post, where I focus on what’s happening on the small scale. I should focus on some of the yearly goals more often though, since I tend to check in on them a few times a year and realize I’ve been letting them slip. Would love to have you link this up to my linky as well :)

Hi
I am following you from Proverbs 31 Woman. Love your goals. I have started my writing, editing and publishing goals. My next children’s book is in the publishing stage. Love connecting with new people. Thanks for tip for the movie website. Which movies did you watch? I have a tough time finding ones that are good – no violence, language, nudity.
Blessings to you,
Janis
Emily says
Way to go on getting another book in the publishing stage. Exciting!
We recently watched The Intern, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and Argo. We used some of the language sensors on Argo, the others weren’t too bad if I am remembering correctly.

Saying morning prayers with my mom each day as a child is a memory I cherish. I know your girls will look back on those morning Bible readings with you with such fondness. What a great reminder that I can pray out loud with my baby right now! Goal for next month!
I’m excited to start this journey with you!
Emily says
What a wonderful memory to have! I am just 3 days into our morning devotions/Bible stories with the girls and we all love it!

I love how you lay out your goals- it is so helpful and organized! Excited to do this link party together
Hannah@SeeingtheLovely says
I love your list, Emily! And I’ll totally have to check out your link-up!
Sam @ Living The Dutch Dream says
Some of the goals that you have listed are really good ideas. It is so easy to not leave room for certain things that are basic requirements but very necessary for a happy life.
Michelle says
Sleep and exercise, the hardest ones if you ask me. Thank you Emily for linking to my first party this week. I appreciate all your answers to my zillion questions on FB and for your continued support.
Emily says
I’m with you that sleep is a tough one. I have never been good at making it a priority.
Happy to have connected with you, Michelle!

That’s quite the list. Maybe you’ve mentioned it before, but what is your preferred workout? I still haven’t found consistency in that area, but have been trying some different circuit-type apps. We also put in a pull-up bar, but my progress on that is slow since I can only do a couple of chin-ups and one pull-up at a time :)
Emily says
My preferred workout is running, but that is hard to fit in these days. Running with a double-jogger (and in the winter!) is not easy! So I typically use the elliptical as I can do that while my younger daughters naps. But I still run when I can fit it in.
Occasionally I will do a video or online workout. There are so many great resources out there! A set workout like that is not my preferred workout, but it’s nice to mix it up. This list has quite a few options if you are looking for some online: https://www.morningmotivatedmom.com/list-free-online-fitness-resources/ The Balanced Life has some quick free workouts available.
Pull-ups are hard!! We have a pull-up bar and they are not easy. I can finally do a couple, but it’s not easy. Then my husband can do sooo many more than I can. :) Keep it up!
Rebekah says
Great goals! I am trying to keep up with my workouts and running also and I have been meaning to put together a photo album forever!! That’s so cool that Money Saving Mom featured your post!!

Goals are great. It’s like our compass that no matter where we are, it keeps us in our direction. :)

Thanks for sharing (and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop).
Wishing you a lovely day.

I love all the printables you’ve been cranking out. I would like to do something similar and gumroad was the way I was going to go as well. Glad it’s been successful for you. A tree grows in brooklyn is on my classics club to read list too.
Thanks for sharing with Small Victories Sunday Linkup. Pinning to our linkup board and hope you found some great posts to visit this week! I hope you’ll linkup your goals with our Feb goals linkup too!
