Here are five things for this Friday…
One
I created this About My Mom printable this week. When my husband asked our 3.5 year old what is mom good at, she stated “washing her hands”. One of my many talents…thank you very much. I guess it could be worse.
Two
This mom wished she would have done something “important”. Her daughter proves that she did…her mom showed up for her people. “You taught us that what matters is love, and that love is relentlessly showing up for your people.” This post made me tear up and I think it was because the way this mom showed up for her people reminds me of my own mom.
Three
It doesn’t get much better than this. Spring is here! I am so thankful that my girls and I can get outside and enjoy springtime.
Four
I am almost two weeks into my attempt to cut back on sugar. I am not following a specific plan. I did a little research and then made up my own plan. You will never hear me say that I cut out sugar entirely. Pure ridiculousness! I just want to cut back as I consume a ginormous amount of sugar in a day. My goal is to be able to make a batch of cookies someday and eat two cookies when I’m done. Not my typical 6-7…or more. No exaggeration. One of my books for research was: The 21-Day Sugar Detox: Bust Sugar & Carb Cravings Naturally*.
While I am not following the plan, there are a few recipes I have tried or will be trying in the future.
Five
I also loosely followed a Green Smoothie Cleanse* for a few days and so this has been my friend
* recently:
Five 1/2
I have been tired this week…

Inspired to read your post at Fellowship Friday — I’m also trying to eat more healthfully and exercise more. In TOTAL agreement about spring and the great outdoors! After the long winter we had here in Maine, just opening a window is a spiritual experience!

Yes, I am loving the fresh air in the house after a long winter!

I love the Mother’s Day print out! How precious those responses will be in a few years!
I love Diane Sanfilippo’s books. My daughter calls Practical Paleo the “cookbook of awesomeness!”
Have a Happy Mother’s Day!
Visiting from Fellowship Fridays.

Thank you! Yes, I’m sure I will enjoy seeing how the answers change.

Thanks for sharing your list at the #HomeMattersParty

I think I’ll give this same list to my kids: 14, 17, 23 and 33! I think it would be equally amusing to see what they come up with… I’m not a big “celebrate me on mother’s day” kinda gal, so this is a perfect gift and truly all I want or need right now. :-)

Oh, I’m sure you’ll enjoy their responses! Never too old…:)

I am trying to do my best to stay healthier as well and this year I celebrate Mother’s Day differently – lots of outside time and less cakes and sweets :) Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
admin says
Thanks! I had a nice day. It actually started with a donut my husband bought me… :) I hope you enjoyed your day also.

Well done on being a good hand washer!! That comment literally made me laugh out loud….better to be know for being a good hand washer than a bad one, right? Also, I’m inspired by your success in cutting back on sugar…I know I really need to so that, but every day I say, well, I’ll start tomorrow…
admin says
Sure. Better to be a good hand washer than a bad one…although I have dry hands to show for it…at least they are clean. Funny what pops into a kiddos’ head!
Good luck with the sugar. ;)

It was so nice to “meet” you today. I so appreciate your sweet visit to my place and the encouragement you left behind. I know what you mean about the sugar issue. I went off it almost entirely in 2007. I have felt so much better, physically, but it is very hard to do. I allow myself a break here and there, but due to health issues, I do try to stay away from it as much as possible. God bless you in your efforts!

I don’t have plans to be off sugar entirely!! Just cut back. Good for you for being able to do it. Thanks for stopping by!
Michelle says
Understand the sugar load…I eat healthy, but my weakness, baked goods, made by me, yes I’m my own worse enemy. I consume to much too in a day. And about once a month (hormones) I literally can’t get enough. It is true, it is addicting.
admin says
I also am my worst enemy when it comes to sweets! As I love baking them…and eating most of it myself. Just trying to get a little control in that area!

Oh my gosh I LOVED that post by Glennon. She always gets me in the heart jugular lol, I was in tears by the end of that post, so much that I couldn’t hardly read it. I really admire you for you cutting back on sugar, I need to do the same because I am completely ADDICTED. I don’t think I could ever cut it out completely either but definitely need to pull the reigns in some!!
admin says
Yes, it was so dear. I love that she felt the need to let her mama know.
I’m not nearly as addicted to sugar as I was 2 weeks ago. But my husband bought me a doughnut on Mother’s Day…and the day was all downhill from there. :)
Thanks for stopping by, Jessica!
Shelly says
Cutting out sugar is harder than anyone realizes because it is in EVERYTHING! I started really paying attention 2 years ago and while I do not totally restrict sugar if I cut back on all “added” sugar I see a difference in weight and in inches around my middle within a short time!
admin says
Yes, it can be hidden in so many foods!
Thanks for stopping by!
Carrie says
Thank you for your list of 5 things! I need a sugar detox! *Gulp*
I love that printable. What a great idea!
Blessings,
Carrie

I just cut back…wasn’t a full detox. That would be too hard for me!
Terri Presser says
Oh, you’ve been busy this past week. Detoxes are good but can leave you tired. Hope this passes quickly. Thanks for sharing at Good Morning Mondays. Blessings

Spring is so awesome! My family and I are starting clean eating on Monday! Thank you for sharing this at the #SmallVictoriesSundayLinkup!

Thanks for linking with us at Grace and Truth last week! That Mother’s Day printable looks adorable. I wanted to have the kids do a similar printable for Mother’s Day and completely forgot, so I may just print some out and have the four kiddos fill them out anyways, haha. :)
