Yes to the running race!

I am happy you agree!
I almost left that one off because I thought it wouldn’t apply to everyone…but it’s one of my favorite things to do in the summer (at least when not pregnant!). I love picking out a race and planning my training. :)

thanks for the great ideas… the simplest are mostly the best!

I like the idea of a night walk. I’m trying to do one new thing a day with my kids this summer. They would love to take a walk at night with flashlights!

My husband and I took late night walks all the time before we had kids. I didn’t even consider that kiddos would enjoy them too. Great idea!

These are good ideas and something that almost everyone can do this summer.

This is a great list! I love the idea of signing up for a fall race, as that gets you planning ever further ahead! And reading a book outside, I love to do that while my boys play at the playground. I love that these ideas encourage simplistic living over a schedule-driven summer.
Emily says
Thanks, Eryn!
I agree with having a simple summer! I like to have a few things planned, but for the most part I like to stay away from a schedule-driven summer.

Great list of stuff to do that are so worthwhile to just get out and about! The kids love the sprinkler and I love that time of year for big walks in the late afternoon early evening! :)

Taking walks has to be one of the most enjoyable activities in the summer!

Okay, that’s got to be a sign: just yesterday, my daughter and I passed a doughnut shop we’ve never been to that her school VP recommended. We didn’t stop…but based on the item on this list, we are THERE next week! ;) So glad I saw this post today at Tuesday Talk!

Love this list! My favorite tip? “Be a tourist in your own city.” We live near Richmond. There is so much to do here, and I’ve never really done anything “touristy” with my girls. We will change that this summer…

Great ideas Emily. I’m planning on being a tourist in my own city today as I head up to Seagrove, NC to a pottery shop from the locals there. I’ve been wanting to visit it for years. Check that off my list! I pinned this on my Summertime board. Thanks for linking this morning. Off to Seagrove!
